Degrees in astrology
Hey all. For he past few months, I have really been trying to find some sources that will give me an explanation on the meaning of each degree ( 0-29 ). Now I may be searching in vain, but I keep running across people giving overall forecasts for something and will casually say things like “ the 23rd degeee is the Leo degree “ etc. If anyone has any information, I would be deeply appreciative, thank you so much.

Chas E. O. Carter´s "Encyclopaedic Handbook of Psychological Astrology" gives unequal weight to different degrees and unequal vocations!
The Sabian symbols have a story element for every degree without exception!
23rd degree would be the 22nd degree if you start counting from degree number´one´
Because of the skew of Moon´s path to ecliptic, several degrees are occupied by " :161:" which makes things a little more complicated!

In vedic astrology it´s called the naskhatra.
In western astrology didn´t look at it yet. But that´s one more thing to research ?

Meanwhile see what I found

Hi , I am not sure I am understanding correctly . I Apologize if I am. not .. first there is an old book on degrees and signs. Which would help u interpret the degree in the sign in that planet.

I never heard a certain degree only for certain sign...if that is what ur asking. I amstill learning. But if your asking something like if you have a planet in a sign with certain degrees.. That sign can go from 0 to 29 degrees.... For instance I have Mars in Scorpio at 18 degrees. O-9 degree that Scorpio is influenced by the sign behind Which is libra and doesn´t feel the full power of Scorpio. 10 -19 in Scorpio is the full power of that sign.... And 20-29 the Scorpio is influenced by the next sign that is sagittarius. My Mars has a full blown Scorpio. But others might disagree. I hope I could help and sorry if I didn´t .

My past-life had late :177: :152: and my current-life has early natal :178: :152: and the transition has been drastic. :39:
The fourteenth degree of negative signs aspires to ´centrehood´ like it is nobody else´s business! :28:

There are several complementary approaches to degrees and numbers in astrology.

* First and foremost: diving deep into numerology always helps for everything (astrology, tarot, ..). There are many ways of seeing numbers: kabbalistic, pythagorean, tarot,...

* Sabian symbols and other such systems can offer some stories for each of the 360 degrees. Dane Rudhyar emphasized the evolutionary approach: seeing the 360 degrees of the zodiac as an evolutionary cycle from Aries to Pisces and then back again to Aries with a new deeper cycle ultimately leading to a spiral pointing to the center of the wheel of life (Swastika, Wheel of Fortune, Arcana 10). This is also the case with transits starting a cycle from conjunction (start) to opposition (climax) and back to conjunction.

* As others pointed out the degrees also relate to the influence of the adjacent houses. Besides if a house contains two signs then there´s an evolution in time from the first sign to the second.

* Numbers are also interesting when you look at the cycle of planets: 18,6 years for the nodal cycle implies that the lunar nodes are between two arcanas of the tarot: Moon (18) and Sun (19). Indeed we are moving from the lunar memories of past lifes towards the solar intention of our future soul-path. 12 years for Jupiter makes him one of the privileged kings of transits with the zodiacal 12 labors of hercules (one year per house/labor). 1 year for the Sun indicates its important nature as the unitary core self: the Soul or Monad (Tiphereth in Kabbalah).

There are the Sabian symbols and numerology as Psyle mentioned...

It also helps to see if you have any planets or significant points on a particular degree that are conjunct a fixed star...

I guess that´s not technically "degree interpretation", but it can shed further light...

So excuse me but may i ask. If you have a planet in lets say 17°57´24, do you count it as 17° or 18°? Or is it 16° that is correct?

Someday someone shall state a difference in Cardinal and Ordinal numbers specifically relative to Astrology, but that day is not today! :46:
