New website feature: Birth time allows seconds entry

I just implemented new option to enter precise birth time in seconds accuracy.

Maybe someone could use it for some astro experiments :)…

Wow! Very cool feature. Thank you!
I wonder how many people will know their birth time to that degree of accuracy! (not me,alas)

Super! :75: Does that mean that planet´s positions will be also to seconds (´´)?
e.g. Leo 29°34´52´´

That seconds entry is gone away already??

Birth chart have still entry for hours and minutes only. No seconds entry yet. :24:

When I was doing rectification chart based on extremely important events, the exact aspect came as 2 minutes and 28 seconds off of my strandard chart. I came to the same conclusion with tropical zodiac and three sidereal ayanamsas, so it´s probably correct, despite differs from official record. House systems doesn´t matter, but ASC and MC degrees moved slightly to make some aspects stronger and weaker.

"Birth chart have still entry for hours and minutes only. No seconds entry yet."

Yes, that´s very pity. :25:

I agree that seconds are very important as you said specially for Asc and MC and for to find the right birth time.

Very nice addition, Petr!! :75:

Only you say:

´Maybe someone could use it for some astro experiments :)´

But I wonder how to experiment with it?
When I enter a special date of an event in progression there are no seconds visible anymore? :25:

Hi Ilene,

it works in birth chart only now:…

and I will most probably add it also into progressions. I guess that it will be most useful here (?) :)

Hi Petr,

I don´t know if you can remember but a long time ago I asked you if seconds could be added.
Unfortunately I forgot the reason why it didn´t happen.
If it has a technical reason, I think this is the best option.

But just as standard everywhere to avoid misunderstandings and to be able to use it in the database would be great.

So is my birth time after correction: 15.09.30.
Calculating without seconds my ascendant is 16.53 Leo
with 30 seconds added 16.59.33 Leo.
That´s a difference of 6 arcminutes.
And MC 29.12 Aries in stead of 29.21.46 Aries.

As I only look for aspects within 1 degree when I correct and when
I look for transits/progressions, this difference is important.
Especially concerning :199: :159: :160:
There are more astrology programs that it has as standard.
If one do not enter the seconds, 00 will automatically be displayed.

I go back a second (under browse) and my Moon moves a whole minute. :64:
This hasn´t happened with the Free Birth Chart Online Calculator! :63:

Thanks for report IIyyaarr13 :15:

There was a glitch in "Browse in time" module - planets were still calculated according to whole minutes (12 : 34 : 59 was considered as 12 : 34 : 00)

I didn´t noticed that before, before I checked just house cusps degrees and they were calculated according to seconds correctly. (there are two different calculations)

Both planets and house cusps should be calculated according to seconds now (in "Browse in time" module).

Hint: btw if you start to "Browse in time" while the "POSITIONS" TAB is activated:

=> browsing in time will also display this "Positions (Speculum)" table with seconds precision:

Hi Ilene, yes I remeber.

there are actually two reasons.

1) Technical reason - it will be very time consuming to implement seconds precision across the entire website. I didn´t prepare calculations for seconds precision from the start ... so I will have to implement it progressively step by step into each calculation.
=> I will most probably implement it just to "Transits & progressions". As you wrote - the main use will be here and it shouldn´t be that time consuming to implement it into these two calculators.

2) User feeling reason - the majority of people don´t use seconds precision; they have no idea what to do with seconds precision and it would be just some other/strange field to enter "some more numbers" for them, so I don´t want to display this opton by default.

So first: I would like to think out some idea how to enable seconds precision; but to hide this option by default and enable it in "extended/advanced" settings only.
(= I´m dealing also with graphics settings and adjusting the graphics layout)

Hi Petr,

I see there are many problems and reasons for not fully entering it.

But it would be great, if it is possible to add seconds also for "Transits and progressions" in "extended/advanced" setting.

Thank you for your clear explanation. :44:

2) Private database can also save seconds now:…

3) You can preset time of birth in seconds also in your "My profile" (My public profile) settings:…

and all further calculations of Natal chart, Secondary Progressions, Transits/Progressions & Solar Arc Directions will be using this time of birth with seconds accuracy :)

Let me know if everything works correctly and try also browsing in time.
I had to replace some functions manually on many places ... and I might have forgotten it somewhere... :32:
If you find some bug/glitch just let me know :)

This is completely off topic but the question popped into my head now.

Is there progress on interpretations for minor aspects?

Asking for a friend.

Total respect for what you’re doing here with these tools, been playing with it all for weeks now - excellent job and thank you very much for the free public service! :75:

:75: I am very glad to read this.

Because if an aspect has to fall within 1 degree, then every arc minute can make the difference. For me it makes a difference of 0.08 arc minutes on my MC and 0.05 minutes on my Ascendant. It´s also very important for birth correction.

Petr, I understand, that it was a lot of work, so I will try out all the features and let you know if it works. :15:
