Stationary Planets in your chart: Powerful Impact?
.
I´ve been intrigued by the impact of stationary planets in charts for some time.
I have Saturn stationary retrograde in my Natal Chart. And for my upcoming Solar Return, will have Uranus stationary Retrograde, and Jupiter stationary direct. So, I´ll be taking notes.

Have you a stationary planet, or observed their impact on others?
Please share observations, insights, or questions!

Stationary planets are said to have a powerful influence, and even to signify extreme talent.
"When a planet is stationary it usually signifies extreme talent, and if a person has extreme talent and doesn’t use it, the end result is depression.”
– The Art and Practice of Ancient Hindu Astrology, James Braha, p. 157-158.
I haven´t particularly noticed any "extreme talent" related to my Saturn so far (Saturn Rx tends to unfurl later in life, however...). I would definitely concur that it´s a powerful influence in my chart.
A nice article for those interested in a basic understanding of what a stationary planet is in astrology:

I have Stationary Mercury from birth and my very first and very last topics are about retrogrades.

Astroseek has an awesome feature that will calculates planets in station.
To find out if you have stationary natal planets, or stationary planets in an upcoming transit or solar return:
https://horoscopes.astro-seek.com/f…
And here´s an astro-seek thread about this feature:
https://forum.astro-seek.com/topic/…
I´ve just bumped the thread. Let me know if you need help navigating the calculator. If you´re doing it for the first time, it´ll seem a little tricky.

The planet in question essentially slows down and pauses - i.e., becomes "stationary" (or still), briefly, before it changes direction.
In the case of the outer planets, this apparent pause in motion can last for a while. With the inner planets, the Planetary Station is always much briefer.

The area in the sky where the planet is doing its retrograde passages is termed the Shadow.
The Evolving Door explains it all really well:
https://www.evolvingdoor.ca/miscart…
So, to summarize, the Retrograde cycle involves six distinct phases and "moments":
1. The Planet passes, in Direct motion, through the Shadow.
2. The Planet stations Retrograde at the edge of the Shadow Zone.
3. The Planet heads "backwards," Retrograde, through the Shadow Zone.
4. The Planet "stops," and stations Direct at the edge of the Shadow.
5. The Planet heads "forward," moving in Direct Motion through the Shadow Zone.
6. The Planet passes, still in forward motion, the Station Point, and continues on in Direct Motion leaving the Shadow Zone behind...
To discuss Retrogrades further, MarvinReal has a thread on Retrogrades.
What I am interested in here, is that specific moment / time period when the Planet "stops" at either end of the "zone," and becomes stationary.
Many astrologers assign tremendous potency to the planet´s energies at that time. Other astrologers overlook it. I´m interested in people´s own observations and insights.

That´s the Stationary moment.
If you were a Planet, that would be your moment of Station.
I don´t have a physics background, so I´m just uysing layperson´s terms here...!

Still a really good description though

The best condition is ´ALL´ planets direct because that is what can counterbalance the heliocentric chart that tells about the "soul".
There are three ways of looking at my chart; 4 retrogrades, 2Rx & 2St, or 1 1/2 stationary planets and 2 1/2 retrogrades.
The last comes closest to the truth!

From what you wrote, though, it seems that you haven´t found that to be the case...?

I have

The slow planets have a significance just as the stationary planets do.
The celebrity astro-search engine at this website can point out some definitely station point influenced major and minor celebrities.

That´s really interesting, thank you.
(Some of what you wrote I´m not following.)
I´ll take a look at the celebrity search engine at some point. Hopefully I´ll be able to figure it out. I sometimes find it tedious to extrapolate from celebrities´ charts, but obviously, so far, they are the easiest data + personalities + biographies to access, so we work with them.
I think one of the primary values of this site -- astroseek -- actually, is the collection of data -- on all of us "ordinary people" (aka non-celebrities). I´m sure that the site´s owners are crunching numbers, processing stats, and running hypotheses and so on. It would be great if they would share their findings at some point!

There are a lot of stars in Sagittarius, it is the most significant place to have a Stationary planet!

thanks for the article!
I have a stationary retrograde Uranus in my 5th house in Capricorn. I am 30 now, but maybe this energy will unfold itself more later in life.
However, I might feel now already some of the energy. My Uranus is ruling my 7th house. So it does equip me with certain erratic behaviour and strange decision making in these areas that it touches. (At least other people think it´s strange.) Making sometimes all other parts of my life kinda obay that energy and putting it "first". There might be also a feeling of must to it or something.

It´s hard to find info on this exact aspect, but after reading the general interpretations of mercury influence, I´d have to say, I´m pretty mercurial. So I would say, yes, it creates a pretty strong influence.
Good example for me is, I use my voice and communication alot in my work to explain things to others and also to persuade people.
Not to brag, but have always been above average intelligence also (when I´m not being dumb, that is

Alot of what is said about mercury is true for me
https://www.google.com/amp/s/…
I´ve also heard how a stationary planet in the chart can become the dominant planet. I´m interested in this. Just wish there were more info on the subject. Can´t seem to find alot )
