Ph.D. studies and possibilities
Hi all,
I would like to enroll in doctoral studies of geoscience (the topic of geography), but wonder what are the odds. How can we see that? Is that my first house?
It would be nice if someone who understands this kind of topic to say something.
Can someone help me?
Thanks in advance. :29:

Edit. I know I can get in on PhD programe, my problem is that there is no scholarship this time, so basically my problem is my future finance situation. Can I afford to pay all that bills?
Retrograde Mercury is playing with me rn :4:, this is not a new idea, its boiling for 3 years now and I´m determent to enroll.

Hi :)!

I´m not sure to understand your question.

You´d like to know how much probability you have to be accepted to the PhD program in geosciences in your university ?

Idk where you study but in my country there are no selections. You "only" need haha a BSc and MSc degree and then you can enroll a PhD program in the science department.

Check every 3rd house:
3H: Starting education/Basic education
5H: Highschool and around that.
7H: Around college time.
9H: Post-Bachelor.
11H: Post-PhD.

At least this is how I understood it from some Vedic videos (long time ago actually)

Cool, I have Venus in 9th and Moon in 11th but also Chiron, it seems I´m never done learning :61:

I do a lot of research, I love it.

With Geoscience is that social or has it do to with the earth? It´s not geology?

So what was your master? I don´t get what you mean to accomplish with a PhD.? Is it a social thing? Or is it more engineering? Pisces Moon is interested in good vibes I´d say, they can be quite unpredictable however and needy.

Just a grab because you have a lot of aspects to your moon so it seems as a center on a first glance:

Square- Moon Square Jupiter (1°57’, Separating)
This aspect causes constantly increasing needs – for emotions, care and comfort. These people are introverts who seek intense religious life. They are very dependent on external conditions and they need to find their purpose of life.

So I was wondering what exactly are you looking to get from those studies? I have Venus in 9th so I like to study. You have Venus square Mars. Mars in the 5th house, Venus in 7th. All these houses show something social but there are difficulties.

This is one way to look at it. The chart most of the time would say what one is capable of but not necessarily WILL be. Needless to say, time-lord stuff play big part here if we are going to go deep.
Geoscience is, well, a science. Probably a broader spectrum of geology.

Interestingly, his 9th house is in an Earth sign as well; Capricorn

It looks like a no go my friend, combust 1st ruler in horary chart, no aspect to the 9th which rules courses.

In your chart I notice your mercury cnj Uranus gives something of a genius, you must be very clever to have that conjunction.

Hi Etherealmind,
Haven´t been online for a few days, but I´m here now.
I was wondering about my future financial situation, because there is no possibility to get scholarship this time, so basically I need to pay my own PhD.I I can get in, that is not question, I have good GPA and academic competences, but my focused is my future financial situation. Will I manage to work and pay bills and pay for scholarship?
That´s my worry.
Thanks for involving in this topic :1:

Hi Nutelina, Nice to hear that you like to learn, me too.
Geosciences in general are Earth sciences, Earth sciences can include the study of geology, and the large-scale structure of Earth´s interior, as well as the atmosphere, hydrosphere, and biosphere. Typically, Earth scientists use tools from geology, chronology, physics, chemistry, geography, biology, and mathematics to build a quantitative understanding of how Earth works and evolves. But Geography both natural and human science, because people are also a sphere of earth, anthroposphere.
On the B.sc level and M.sc level we had all of those subject equally, natural and human based branches. Geography is very complex, its not capital cities, that´s very much irrelevant and NOT the subject of Geography.
So, I can chose will I focus to go deeper and study physicals geography (geomorphology, hydrology, climatology, pedology, biogeography and other branches), human geography (Population geography, culture geography, settlement geography, urban and rural geography, economic geography, agricultural geography and other branches), regional geography (regional development and regional problems), cartography, GIS(Informatic system), spatial planning, demography or environmental protection.
I now I can enroll but I don´t know what are the odds to succeed to pay my scholarship in future, that´s my worries. :1:

HI, Yeap, I have 9th house in Capricorn and I graduated geography BSc and MSc, completely loved it all the time. Geology is also very similar to my science as the both sciences are studying earth, geology more interior complex and geography the features on the planet and there development and processes. I would also like to say that geography is both, natural and human science and its very complex and has nothing to do with capitals and stuff. People form Europe should know it more, because Geography, especially in USA has been ridiculous and underestimated.
Thanks for answering, I´m not worried about enrolling, I can enroll, I´m worried about finance, how will I manage to pay for it.

Hi Trevor, I like that aspect, its really powerful. It gave me interest in a lot of unusual things as astrology is. This is not a new Idea, since I was like 2nd year of University I was thinking about it, and I talk with my professors about it, they are supportive, the problem is that there is no scholarship so i need to pay on my own, and I´m worried about it. :1:

I suggest to think it through - til Mercury and Venus retrograde are over.

My minor was Geology by the way - well, my mind is wiped out by now unfortunately, but yeah, sometimes it´s hard to draw a hard line between Geography and Geology, but I guess geology often gets deep into features and chemical compounds and all that stuff - Geography seems more on the human sciences side i guess, with a touch of geology to it probably?

Well, now I´m just thinking of it, enrolling is in October. :D
O so you are geologist, nice. On my first year of Uni we had geology with petrography 1 which was basics of geology and minerology most of the time, but geology 2 was all about petrography. Our midterms were like this, we had to learn about a lot of minerals in geo 1 and then professor pulled out one of theme and we needed to recognize it to pass, and ofc to now everything about it. Later in geology 2, the same thing but with stones, I liked it. And on the exams we had like 2 books about geology mineralogy and petrology. :D Geography is natural and human science. We all go through all of geography branches on our bachelor 4 years. Also in Msc we could go deeper with our interests. Some of geographers are more interested in physical geography topics so they study hydrology, geomorphology, climatology etc. and some of geographers are interested in human geography and like to study about cultures, population, settlement development or migration of people etc. There are regional geographers also, also cartographers, geoinformaticians etc.
So, as I have written to someone in this topic, I can chose will I focus to go deeper and study physicals geography (geomorphology, hydrology, climatology, pedology, biogeography and other branches), human geography (Population geography, culture geography, settlement geography, urban and rural geography, economic geography, agricultural geography and other branches), regional geography (regional development and regional problems), cartography, GIS(Informatic system), spatial planning, demography or environmental protection.
I now I can enroll but I don´t know what are the odds to succeed to pay my scholarship in future, that´s my probelm.:D

No worries for the late answer :)

Okay, so I guess you´re living in a an apartment-share ? You usually work next to your studies ? If yes, I suppose it´s just enough to pay bills indeed ...

Well, it also depends on if you already have some savings and the costs of this PhD ...

Firstable, if you know the costs, I´d look at the PhD schedule and see how much time I have to work on my thesis each week and then depending on the free time you have, how much you can earn weekly/monthly etc. etc. This is the practical point of view.

Now the 2nd thing you can do to "measure the financial risks" is to look at your transits and 2ndary progression but I´m really not a specialist to look at the aspects regarding money in a natal chart lol so I can´t tell you exactly what you should look at. I advice you to create another thread in the forum asking about the transits to look at regarding money.

Just remember that astrology only represents tendencies, nothing is "irrevocable" of course :1:.

Best of luck with that.
I´m actually a physics graduate or majoring physics but with a minor in geology. I like geology but the "fossils" in that department here made me hate it hehe - anyway that was long time ago.

From the description of the courses you stated, it is not very different from the one we have here and in fact just recently (I think after my graduation in 2005) they renamed the geology department here to (Environmental Sciences) so it includes most of what you´ve said about the courses. From what I gathered, here at least, it seems that GIS and hydrology have some good prospect in the future. Of course, most people here get into geological studied to get a job in the oil sector after graduation.

Good luck with the finances, hope things get sorted out before October :)

If you go working now, where would you start looking?

For the PhD. the problem with geology is that there is no information about the influence of the sun on earths geology. See electric universe posts here on the forum from me.

The other way is more mathematics and statistics. Here you can say people clump together with similar intelligence and the cities always have the highest level of intelligence because of speciality but also loans are granted in bigs cities. Money is made there literally by banks giving out loans to ideas they seem to like since they need to asses their risk versus returns on investment.

I´d look what Andrew Hall explained about geology and see if you are more revolutionary or into social sciences, graphs and connections.

It seems like choosing between earth and air. Being practical or social?

Sidereal, whole sign.

Uranus and Mercury in Capricorn MC is excellent position for scientific engagement in things related to Earth (Capricorn, as the earth sign of III level is actually all abut geography, society, demography).

Since both are also making biquintiles (5th harmonic) to 5th house Mars, that is ruling your AC, that way you´ll be able to get a lot of self-esteem and to develop at personal level. Strong Mars is strong you (AC ruler).

Mercury is also the ruler of your 3rd house Fortuna (inevitable destiny) which is connected to information flaw, movement and action so, with additional 9th house Sag Sun it is very likely that you´ll end up as a professor/lecturer too.
