Scenes From The Neighborhood
After moving recently, I decided to go out and do some exploring.

Turns out I live 5 minutes away from the Forrest Gump lighthouse (aka Marshall´s Point Lighthouse).

What are some scenes from your neighborhood?

Fair assessment, I think the nationalism is alright, and a must. They def want ppl to like the country and there is much to like!

I totally love the place - just the right combination of rule breaking and rule following, great food on the light side, the people are exuberant and positive.. nobody takes shit from anyone there, yet they are delicate and diplomatic people wanting to bring joy to the world on some level.. fascinating combination of many traits really.

Almost moved there.. but some BS went down. Next time I´ve the opportunity I´m doing it. Best place in the world, for me it seems.

Yes very draconian approach with covid. Not sure what mindset prompted it..better safe than sorry, echoes of Justinian´s plague.. who knows.

That program you were involved with sounds like such a "Greek thing"...

Very nationalistic there...but not in an "we have an agenda to push" kind of way...more just national pride...and, they just want people to like the country...

It´s very much a country that´s centered on the "glory that WAS Greece"...tourism, and history, is really all they´ve got there...not a whole lot else going on...when I was in grade school, it was still classified as a second world country, I believe...

Still love it though. No place like it. Although I will be staying away until this covid "crisis" subsides. Very Draconian shit going on there, last I heard...lockdowns, curfews, etc. Which is strange for a country that is so economically dependent on tourism. You´d think they´d want to return to normalcy as much, and as soon, as possible. They´re literally killing the entire country while trying to "save" it.

Haha, cool. I´m half Greek, born in BG. So that´s where your philosophical incline comes from, DNA stuff :4:

Quick story: The Greek government was so generous "for some reason" with a bunch of us in the late 90s with Greek roots, completely free 20 day vacation in Thessaloniki.. didn´t have to spend a cent, all we had to do was sing the Greek hymn every morning and pretend we´re learning Greek for half an hour a day.. rest of the time was bumming around with other teens from 12 other European countries, eating, going to the beach, all kinds of stuff.

Couldn´t believe they thought they could have an impact that way - I was seeing through their very obvious brainwash game.

2018 walking around the same beach basking in memories.. thinking shit, they got us while we were young, didn´t they.. as I was considering moving there permanently.

It was never about what we were thinking or learning so much, but creating good memories, and instilling a sense of familiarity with the place, so we come back when we grow up.. rest of the group was rich kids, unlike me. So they are likely to get back their investment many times long term. Very clever stuff..

Could have been just a lavish, frivolous project with a dash of money siphoning of course..

Don´t think you´ve completely ran out of narratives just yet btw. You can go with "healing journey", and finally "learning how to love" next times you want to visit the region :4:

P.S for "learning how to love" you need to do a public thing first, where you say you´ve realized your relational life has been troubled a bit, due to your impeded ability to love, so you need to expand your horizons for the benefit of your primary.

I´m Greek, but born in the US...lived there for a few years when I was a kid though...also took quite a few extended vacations there through my 20s while I was "finding myself" (ie being a bum :3:)

Cloud shark.

It looked cooler in real life moving from right to left like a shark fin upon the water.

We had those "accordion buses" in Greece too...

Don´t know if they have them here in the States.. I don´t think I´ve ever seen one here, but I could be wrong... Haven´t been to many cities in the past 10 years...

6 butterflies suddenly assaulted my backpack :39:

(there were actually more butterfiles ... but I took the picture of just these 6 :32:)

Yeah it´s Bella. She had a good time in the hammock. Purred the whole time.

It was hilarious seeing her trying to walk on it.

OK so this isn´t really "the neighborhood", but it´s not every day you get to see a cat in a hammock I guess...

What do you call a group of butterflies?

A gaggle? A flock? A horde?

Anyway, they were pretty cool. I counted 6 in the garden yesterday.

(Yes, I know my raised beds look like shit. Been busy.)

This one is from my town.

Actually, it´s an electricity booth, but rare tourists always think it´s a temple or so :61:

There’s no escaping the negative side of nature no matter where You live.

Fortunately the North East is reasonably safe.

No volcanoes at this time.

Our practice place is the basement of an old building, but it usually has decent drainage.

The recent rain made the carpets squishy but our equipment was all safe.

Hopefully You miss the worst of it.

"Our band practice space was all soggy when we arrived today."

Basement practice area?

Hope you got some pallets...

I retire tonight praying for my tomato plants...

I don´t miss hurricane season from my time in the NJ/PA area...

You´d think the winters here in Maine would exempt us from this shit...
