Out of sign conjunction
So my Mercury is at 29 degrees Sagittarius in 7th house and my Mars is in 0 degrees Capricorn in 8th house- what does this mean? How do these planets work together if at all?

Influence of both planets is blended and it has Sagittarian flavour. Any specific case?

They still work together. It´s still a conjunction.

When two planets are conjunct, they essentially become a third entity, a third planet.

With an out of sign conjunction, the expression of the conjunction will just be blended between two signs.

I actually think that could make it a bit more balanced and ultimately easier to handle.

Mercury conjunct mars will give a mind that is fired by Martian energy, aggression, passion, and desire.

In the case of your conjunction, the buoyant, optimistic, and somewhat imprecise Sagitarrian mind (Mercury) will still be infused with the Martian energy... But since Mars is is Capricorn (its dignity) that Martian energy will be a bit more tempered and able to be put to practical use.

Good ability to put thoughts...even the wilder ones... Into practical action.
