The Wonder Of Nature + Silly Stuff
2023 Edit
This contemplation on the wonders of nature I wrote in 2019 is all well and good, but now in 2023 I’m posting fun, interesting and silly stuff here….and You can too!

End edit

Why is Nature so Excellent? Nature is never trying to sell anything, or push a point of view.

Nature simply IS.

Nature neither explains itself or purposefully conceals its workings.

When I use the word nature I mean all things not made by humans. Trees and animals, water and rocks.

I have loved being in Nature for as long as I have lived and the above words are the reason why. It is the best teacher.

It´s why I love my cat so much. She is herself always. Nothing explained and nothing purposefully concealed.

Watching the Squirrels bounding across the grass and burying nuts is cute and entertaining to me. Watching the little hand-like paws digging a hole to bury a nut.

This is serious business to the squirrel.Securing itself food for the fallow time.

Seeing one make an alarm call as a hawk passes over, warning other squirrels of danger.
Each squirrel is trying to get the best and most nuts for itself in preparation for the depth of winter.

A balance of competition and cooperation.

Purity is rarely found in nature. Nature is mostly a mixture and a balance.

I have been thinking about nature and its value because I am seeing it´s erasure all around me. The area I live in is being paved and built upon at an alarming rate.

It makes me angry and sad. Future generations deserve to experience the Natural world and learn what it teaches. To experience the wonder.

I just felt like posting this, please post any comments or thoughts of Your own.

Shoebills look menacing but are not aggressive towards people.

This concludes my impression of David Attenborough.

Shoebills have up to an 8 foot wingspan. Over 2.4 meters.

I couldn’t find any fat Shoebills or I would have posted it to the chonky bird thread.

They’re pretty cool and another example of amazing nature.

Shoebills can be up to 5 feet tall. Over 1.5 meters.

They have a menacing look to them.

Imagine hiking and seeing this looking at You.

The Shoebill is an interesting bird.

From East Africa. They wade through wetlands scooping up fish and frogs.

The first time I saw a photo of one I didn’t think it was real.

"The possums down Your way are cuter than the ones we have around here."

Yeah you´re not wrong. Those Virginia ones look a little strung out... Like a rat on steroids or a cat on crack.

Haven´t had any animals since I moved abroad, but there are plenty at the family home. Found this one while searching for mushroom pics.

The cats used to beat them up in my old neighborhood. Poor guys would try to run up the trees just to evade the paw patrol.
Whenever I´d leave cat food out for the strays, the possums would eat it too. Seeing them travel with their babies on their back in real life was great... they are adorable too, in their own unique way.

The Virginia possum is kind of goofy looking.

This mom with her babies is about as cute as they get.

My friend just adopted this big boy. Over 20 lbs.

Benny came from a bad situation but he hit the jackpot being adopted by my friend.

I like to see animals getting good homes.

I’m glad You enjoy the photos but only one cat is actually mine.

The cat in my profile photo is my cat Tuesday. I post lots of photos of her.

The rest are photos I find online and think are cute and interesting.

Photos and videos of animals is a great way to take a mental break and I enjoy sharing with people who feel the same.

Tuesie is my only cat at the moment and she wants it to stay that way. She’s not a fan of other cats.
