Planetary Archetypes
What would you consider the main 3 archetypes of each planet?

Which ones are the "poles" to each other?

I.e. feminine pole vs masculine pole

Also who loves Capricorn daddies? :-D

Hi nikkia! I made a topic in the tarot section that explains the astro-tarot associations!

Would agree they are a archetype of themselves, to be a polar opposite implies that they hold a archetype.

But in the broader spectrum of the mechanics of energy, everything has it´s opposite, and by that we can deduce aspects that resonate to certain centralized archetypes and such.

Just a good way to get a census to see where the mentality is for the planetary archetypes to get some resolution as to where - what - how.

You´re welcome!

There are also astrological associations with the other cards, the Minor Arcana, which follows the Chaldean order of the planets.

Pip Cards 2,3,4 = Cardinal Sign for element
Pip Cards 5,6,7 = Fixed Sign for element
Pip Cards 8,9,10 = Mutable sign for element

2 of Cups = Venus in Cancer

Wow, CrescentKitKat Thank YOU. That was a lot of work - I had no idea how labor intensive this would be.

*(Modern Astrology assigns :199: to the Fool, :159: to the Hanged Man, and :160: to Judgment)*
Sounds about right !

My Sag rising eye caught “Daughter of the Reconcilers: the Bringer Forth of Life” - :179:...
The Devil... really? LMAO. Figures.

So very kind of you to include these planetary archetypes. Very interesting !

I´d be interested in the astrological associations of the archetypes of Tarot. Sounds pretty cool, Ckk.

Couldn´t each planet and each sign be an archetype unto themselves?

I do tarot in my spare time and there are astrological associations with each of the 78 cards. 22 cards of that are the Major Arcana and associated with the 10 planets and 12 signs. The Golden Dawn tradition however, only uses the 7 traditional planets, the elements (Saturn and Earth are associated with the same card) and the 12 signs.

Sedna-Hammer of Thor, vulture capitalist, Eater of Souls.
All the planets are benefic compared to Sedna.
Someone at this forum had a different "Hammer of Thor" quite a few months ago so I said nothing about it!
Even though the Greek God Neptune is quite male; The planet Neptune is more feminine than Venus; The planet Venus was born in a time of High Priestesses and Goddess-Queens and so was bound to represent women! :34:

$What about Sun square Saturn ?"

Conflict between the inner self and that which restricts us (our karma). Some of these don´t seem to work with the archetypes I picked, at least on the surface. "King" square "teacher" doesn´t make much sense. But if you think of "king" as that which is king within ourselves--our inner, core self--and Saturn as the teacher that doesn´t let us advance until we´ve learned the right lessons (karma), it makes more sense. Our karma, or the lessons we must learn (Saturn), may make it difficult for our inner self to "shine." (Sun)

Mars conjunct Venus joins the warrior and the lover in one. Love and romance are things to be "conquered", and pursued aggressively with alot of energy and self-assertion (Mars). There may be a reckless, "act now, think later" attitude in love, varying in degree according to the Mars sign.

Either way, love and romance will be pursued with vigor....

Sun-extraverted yet innocent and good. Many people like them. They are generous but absolutely oblivious to their own mistake. EXXP in mbti

Moon-Nurturer, natural instincts to protect her loved ones, invasive though, extremely intuitive but much more within the range of societal acceptance than the other intuitives I will discuss shortly IXFJ-I´m forced to say INFJ though
Mercury-these people are social, intelligent and attractive. Yes, they are the tricksters, the social navigators of the planetary archetypes. XXXJ

Jupiter-I am not going to argue with the it being the priest, adventurer or the philosopher archetype but again this is going to be a EXXP

Saturn-IXXJ archetype, and they are the stern father, teacher, servant, and the tax collector as someone before me has said.

Mars-warrior archetype EXXJ

Venus-Beautiful woman archetype although I´m going to argue with the modern beauty standards, mercury women will fare better in that department XXFP

Neptune-the dreamer, the mystic, the artist, the seductress - INFP

Pluto-I´m going to say they are the most introverted of all the types INFX but usually they attract catastrophic situations and are lured in to teach someone a lesson as the spiritual criminal in order to destroy their ego/the bubble they put themselves. And this can either transform them or destroy them.

I have so many polarities in my birth chart

I think those archetypes are pretty practical and applicable.

Venus square Uranus in your natal?

The lover in you is in conflict with the rebel in you...

Mercury trine Neptune?

The messenger (communicator) in you can convey mystical, artistic, or deceptive information...

Mars conjunct Uranus?

The warrior in you is aligned with the rebel or genius in you

I think polarities are better expressed through signs than planets...

I can think of some I guess...

Sun and moon- father and mother

Saturn and Neptune - the realist and the dreamer

Jupiter and Saturn- the tax refund and the tax collector (Don´t think I´d call that an archetype though)

Venus and Mars- the lover and the warrior

Mercury and Uranus- the rational mind and the intuitive mind

Let´s make this more practical and applicable.

Make poles and put each planet into them and see what we get.

Like Mars, man Venus, woman.

Three is alot... I´ll give what I can think of for each, both positive and negative:

Sun- the king. The Christ archetype in a very evolved sun

Moon- the mother, the nature goddess, the lunatic

Mercury- the messenger, the trickster, the scribe

Venus- the lover, the artist, the dark feminine

Mars- the warrior, the earthly criminal, the law enforcer (not the law creator)

Jupiter- the priest, the traveler, the adventurer, the vagabond, the gambler, the philosopher

Saturn- the stern father, the teacher, the tax (karma) collector

Uranus- the rebel, the revolutionary, the genius

Neptune- the dreamer, the mystic, the artist, the deceiver

Pluto- the spiritual warrior, the teacher that takes the student to hell to teach a lesson, the spiritual criminal, the serpent (who in the form of temptation is how human virtue is either created or destroyed.)

I´ll probably add more if I think of any...
