Overlooked or underestimated houses
I suppose that most people interested in astrology notice that some houses are indicated more often than others, more popular and ok...It´s obvious - probably because of the area they are focusing on - for example: 5th house - focus on children, activities, our creativity, joy; 8th house - sex, death, money or 4th house - our family and house, our roots. Maybe some houses are ovverrated - it´s hard to say...I choose different direction :)
Don´t you think there are some houses so unfairly overlooked, just underestimated?
I see 2th house as an underestimated house. 2nd house talks about money, our income, personal values, even about self-esteem or self - worth - that´s how I heard and know now, nothing more.
I may be wrong about the interpretation of what the 2nd home is talking about - because (and this is partly the reason for this topic
) I rarely hear anything about him, so I don´t understand that. And I don´t have any planet in that house.
Another example - 3rd house. I am convinced that people usually overlook or just ignore 3rd house, seeing it as not so important. And in my opinion it´s quite important house, because it rules communication,intellect...And it talks about our brothers and sisters, neighbors and relatives. And as I remember - an early education and short trips. I rarely heard something about 3rd house.
I don´t think about that in the way "Which house is more important". Just want to ask - do you see some house(s) in astrology as often overlooked or underestimated?

Especially with the much-overlooked 1st.
I hope you find that Youtube video :)

For a beginner it`s best to learn the absolute basics of every part of the chart. The house system is not something you should concern yourself with in the beginning. The 1st house is the 1st house in every system, nothing more. As for the ruler of the 1st you interpret that in the sign its in, and house, but i would say that`s something to look at after you got the basics down.
Pick a house system you resonate with for the purposes you need. Study different house systems and what they`re good for in terms of prediction, personality, psychology and so on.
Hope this helps.

The way you describe the 1st house echoes the very essence of the ASC - which makes sense if you´re using Whole Sign. The first house is the Rising sign.
I´ve overlooked my 1st house because it´s empty. Rulership changes depending on the house system used. I don´t even know how to interpret this. To convert a natal horoscope from Placidus to WS dramatically changes everything.
See, this where a novice can go a bit batty in search of meaning. There´s a lack of continuity.
My only ´observation´ about Whole Sign vs Placidus is the difference between outer world and inner world expressions... which definitely gives Whole Sign the 1st house advantage.

Yes most see it in a superficial way, maybe because most people do not study astrology in depth, they only know basics, and that is fine but it`s good to know as much as possible about the rising sign and 1st house.
There was an interesting YouTube video about this from an evolutionary astrology perspective, if i can remember it and find it i will post it, it may give people food for thought.

If it´s misunderstood they must not release the greater purpose of the house beyond it being their rising

As an Sun and Mars in Aries

And this I also what I meant - I thought about 1st house and then...I forgot to mention it here

So for sure the 1st house also belongs to the skipped ones.
People see the 1st house very superficially, because it talks about our appearance, the impression we make on others, but I think there is a lot more.

First house represents the entire body, and the head in particular.
Seeing how the houses rule different parts of the physical body is a good way to illustrate what Olenna is saying about the first house.
The tenth house may represent the knees, specifically, but ultimately, the knees are part of, and will always be associated with, the entire physical body.
Now let´s take it outside the physical...
The 10th house represents career, but that career is always tied into the self expression of the 1st house in some way...
The career isn´t a standalone thing, just like the knees aren´t a standalone thing... They both begin and are an extension the first house, whether the first house is representing the physical body, or the expression of self...

Ok that`s a poke at Gemini nature

=====
The 1st house is the way you operate in this world, how you take action, how you like things to be. Most astrologers don`t take this into consideration when looking at love or career matters or anything. Everything comes back to how the person decides things, that`s seen in the archetype of the 1st house and planetary placements there. It is the first interaction with the world.

The 1st house. Nobody seems to pay attention or care to interpret this house. It`s overlooked entirely and it is a very important house that sets the tone of the chart.

I think that north node/rahu in the chart is also underestimated.
cause it represents the lifestyle that gives positive karma,
south node being connected to former life, and traits of negative karma, indulgence in those characteristics will yield negative results & misery in life.
This was the ancient indian vedic ways & used in the past for arranged marriages, and marriage between royalties.
It´s said having an partner that have strong energies/aspects in their chart that resonates to the one´s south node, will put one to indulge on those negative traits, causing misery. Such placements were historically seen in spouses of tyrants to exemplify.
While having an partner who´s energies are in positive aspect to one´s north node, will stimulate the positive traits in one to aid one´s life mission in positive sense, and that their life contributes to society/world in general.
Royalties from all cultures etc. spent years in search for a partner with just this placement in mind.
Divorce wasn´t likely cause they were all instilled with duty to the union of marriage & their position in society.
And when they´ve wedded such a destined couple, to divorce was considered extremely taboo ofcourse.
But that´s the story, how that North.node/Rahu aspect been significant throughout history.
Oh! it was also used in determining which heir would be successor to the throne.
One of the most famous cases being King Bharat, told in the story of Mahabharata.
Who had several heirs, but none had the characteristics to be a just & righteous king. Then the king found the son of his charioteer(chariot driver) to have excellent characteristics of duty & benevolent personality to be qualified.
This caused such an upset historically, that it´s the root of the moral war story that is the Mahabharat saga, taking place several thousand years B.C.
It´s not a religious story, but a story about conflicting morals.
It´s still used as a guide in indian society, to teach children about difference in morals.
Much like the moral stories about the goose laying golden eggs in western society.

Well these last few post are getting quite off topic on overlooked houses ^^
But I understand what you´ve said.
I don´t know the complex details about your chart.
I´m not a professional astrologer ^^
but want to point few things out.
The puppetmaster like discription, "pulling the strings, staying hidden & let the other take spotlight or make a fool of himself".
Is a negative notion on an otherwise positive one.
The positive view would be, "supporting from the backstage, the artist who enters the spotlight to express his/her talents" ;)
If you´re looking for a framework that leads to positive outcomes,
I suggest you look at your north node (also known as Rahu)
which outlines life path & positive karma, which is in Virgo in your case.
I´d advise to search out articles on "rahu in virgo" & "North node in virgo"
following that as a guide will probably solve the issue you have with attracting that type of attention, and be able to better handle it in the future.
That´s the simplest line to follow as true, without you having diving to deep ;)
On the end having 1 solar system, stars & 1 effect, I don´t entirely agree with ;)
I´ve been studying many different fields since teenage & advanced through the years. Everything about us interconnected and reflected in our birth chart.
Maybe 1 solar system we all reside in, but many effects on several dimensions & ways of living.
Hope that helps you

Unfortunately that 10th house I guess.. Not sure if it isn´t a burden... sometimes..
Could be, it´s also age of course....
My intent is not to be very good at astrology but I´d like to have a frame work and positive outcome. So far Astro is making sense but could be made simpler perhaps with less viewpoints and the Vedic and everything. In the end we have 1 solar system, stars and 1 effect from that.

Great, that´s what we all should do a bit more ;D
Life´s a process & we learn things along the way
There´s still lots of discoveries to be made
It´s interesting to see you´re an fire Aries
with mercury, venus & mars in pisces being water.
3x Water synergy behind the fire haha interesting mix
I understand your vibe for experimenting & feedback, with pisces energies
and your enthusiasm coming from aries energy ;)
My way of style/actions stems from mars & ascendent in scorpio being water
& my speech/expression from mercury in Leo being fire
So I can understand now bit better how my style vibes to you ;D
lol I´m getting better at this as we speak! ;))
And please share your findings on fortuna with me,
I´d love to see another perspective/interpretation to learn more on it too ;D
cheers

I´ll look into Fortuna!

What I think is overlooked, is the deeper understanding of what houses actual stand for in meaning & the planets modifying it.
5th house; children is just one keyword. while it also represents among many other things pleasure/joy in life too. Lot´s of astrologers use it as an indication if people can have fun together & find satisfaction for example.
Houses go way deeper than just those few keywords.
What I´m currently learning on is,
Interacting with an person, my planets are in the other one´s houses & vice versa. How I come "across" to them, from their standpoint aspects.
If my mars planet (roughly:actions) are in their 7th house, of long term relation, they tend to interpret my actions as favorable as a partner.
If it´s in their 8th house they interpret my actions attractive from an sexual point of view.
While their´s are in my 11th house of friendship.
This makes them feel like I´m husband & lover material to them & acting as such, while I experience my actions as friendship.
I´m currently investigating/researching this, as I´m having honest conversations with them & looking in retrospect to other friends & relations.
But so far it checks out ;D
It would be really cool to fully understand this,
and to see in chart how the person will interpret my planets with their houses,
And how I will interpret theirs in socializing.
For example I´ve had a great friend, who always tagged along & sharing life weekly, with stories. Their mercury in my 9 house, I could tell her my journey in life as a friend how I view our mindset/convo.
But my mercury in their 4th house, she´s always felt I was kind of like family.
talking/sharing like a family member would´ve.
And mentioned this plenty of times.
So reading it all in retrospect makes me realize, how deep things can be with these houses.
I don´t think many read into this as deeply. So it might be overlooked & underestimated.
But I think it´s very cool! ;D
Also I´ve read recently, if you´re Fortuna asteroid is in a sign, let´s say it´s in Taurus
having an person along in your endeavor, who´s mars is in taurus, will increase your chances on luck, if you let the person collaborate or take more part & actions in your endeavor.
It´s like those casino tales, having an redhead throw the dices for you, and will bring lucky wins on your behalf. Meaning the redhead has mars in same sign as your fortuna.
It´s harder to proof this of course hahah ;D
But the theory is pretty cool!
And so far the couples saying their luck has changed when they met their partner & seeing their planets, are favorable to the position of their fortuna, the theory sounds as a real thing ;D
And I´m just thrilled to learn more ^_~
Don´t overlook anything! cheers

With nothing in the 2nd house a soft little voice says just ignore it! Venus is a relatively new planet which people are just getting used to!

It is sufficient that I have the Milky Way Galaxy in the 4th house, so my chart is balanced!
