I HATE Daylight Savings Time

I HATE Daylight Savings Time
So it´s that time of year again when the clocks go ´forward´ in an effort to bring more sunlight during the evening hours in... 🙄

Living in a fake time over half the year is really stupid and it messes with everyone´s internal clock where they are on a sleeping schedule and it can take a toll on your health depending on the kind of work you do. It just feels so disconnected from the natural rythm of the day and night cycle and for Astrology it just feels weird not being in sync with our celestial clock.

Permanently get rid of DST countries of Earth! I´m tired of it :85:

DST is solely political madness ... => and also the "real" enemy of astrology (calculations) :23: :85: :28:

You never know "for sure" if DST was actually observed or not ... in some particular city ... in the past ... :39:

Hah us Americans 🇺🇸 love our traditions and what’s familiar so I can see why alot of people had trouble adjusting to the metric system! Honestly screw what other countries think of our Imperial freedom units! It’s our own thing and we own it 🦅😤

The 80s a heck of time to be alive I would imagine

All that was about the same time the US was trying to get the country on board with the metric system, instead of pounds, inches, ounces, miles, and all that, that we use. Apparently just about the rest of the world uses the metric system and did back then as well. That´s how Pepsi and other beverages began to be sold in 2-liters. That´s about the only thing that stuck lol. It was apparently too hard for the country to learn the changeover. Kids in school were beginning to be taught, but what good was that if they went home and the adults still used ounces and gallons.

I guess the absence of DST and trying to change to metric was too much
😄😄 🙄
By the early 80´s everyone being required to learn the metric system was phased out.
And kids going to school a little later in the morning would be messing with the adults working hours, 8-4 and the ol´ 9-5 etc., the people said. Too much of a change 😄 That one got taken care of a lot sooner.

Thanks for the history lesson. I had no idea. But... why not make school start a half-hour or an hour later so the sun has time to peep up and cast light for all the children to feel safer? I don´t think that´s a good enough reason to keep it. DST really screws up people´s sleeping habits and mental functions that persist well after DST starts. It´s just....out of touch with nature and makes time more arbitrary than it should be.

Way back in the mid-70´s, the US decided to do away with any form of daylight saving time. After more than a year of no clock adjustments, people across the country had become tired over it all, saying they just didn´t want to get up for school and work in the dark anymore. And that it just wasn´t safe waiting on a bus in the dark. So finally daylight savings time got reinstated. Over time, the day and month to change clocks was tweeked a little, from Oct to Nov and Apr to March and that´s about it.

Here, we "had" a system of changing working hours according to season but not the main time. Even this system is now abandoned except in very few places.
From what I see and hear, people are really upset with this system, so I don´t see why it is still in use. I mean, the last people can do about it is to start using the normal time among themselves for their own needs and ditch that system, as simple as that.

Lol you and I and my 2 children alike. They are currently whining and whining in their rooms because it can´t possibly be bedtime when there´s still light in their rooms :61:

Something can be made about it but IT DOESN´T. That´s what pisses me off about DST.
Our people seem to be comfortable not being in sync with the Sun´s journey across the heavens :47:

Me too! It just started today. It’s the worst. It messes with our natural rhythms, I agree. It needs to end for good.

Yeah I know right TJ? We have 24 Time zones on the Earth that is parallel to the 24 hours in a day. It´s based off the Sun´s position across the circle of the Earth. Each time zone changes every 15° which is equal to an hour. So it´s 360 degrees in total. It´s literally perfect already with the time zones...why bring in man-made time systems that throw off that balance and that change depending on on country laws year to year?

So yeah we need to get rid of DST worldwide and recognize that time is attuned to geography and shouldn´t be changed!

we don´t use it but always wondered why do others do it. Moreover, it is indeed a messy business for me when I deal with other time zones. Like one time I´ve been to Ireland, and didn´t realize they use it already back in September or October, and I used a website to calculate the time for our prayers; The website doesn´t use it DST in its calculations and it made it clear, and I totally forgot about it. Took me some days to get used to it and convert the times.

Makes me wonder now, if people hate it so much why don´t they just abandon it?

The concept of time-zones was developed to solve this exact problem because before that each region or country had its own timing. Now with DST, it´s like, again, each country/region has its own timing again. What´s the point?

Anything can be gotten used to! :75:
:14: That being said :8:
Bible thumper in the family never adjusted the clock; Declared it was on "God´s Time!"
Sean-David Morton said we would have two hour adjustments instead of just one............then he went to jail!
The less pleasant twelfth-house Pisces type of experience!
24/7 watch-wearing rejects the notion that we owe time to spirit!

here here :37:

I have hated it my whole life... only time we enjoyed it as kids was during "Fall Back" - yeah, cool, let´s gain an hour, but it´s not necessary... Arizona doesn´t have to observe it! And I believe Indiana used to also not take part.. :115: :115:
