Who needs a life outside of work
I mean, really? I should just be glad I have a job, right?

Who cares if its all consuming and takes every minute of every day and leaves you with no energy to invest into anything else.

Im just a lucky guy. Gotta rest up so I can go do it again. And again. And again

Hope all of you have normal and healthy social lives :37:

It´s not what you say, but the energy behind it that I feel. There´s something about you that feels uplifting to me - or positive - it´s maybe more my own response to you. I get it that this is not how you´re feeling. I do remember now in another thread, you saying that you get tired dealing with people. Looking at your chart again - yeah, I tune into Pisces people well with my Jupiter, NN and DES Pisces.

Well, you do have a conflict in your chart - because you have ample relationship signs - Libra rising, Sun, Jupiter, Venus and MErcury in Leo, and then Mars in Cancer on the MC and Moon in Aries - 7th. There is a huge focus on relationship. Obviously, you are meant to have relationships to learn something.

But on the other hand, you´ve got Saturn in the 12th and SN in Pisces in 6th with NN in 12th. You are really sensitive to other people´s energies with Libra and Cancer - so that sensitivity can burn you out very quickly. I usually recommend to people with this amount of sensitivity to be careful who you invite in your inner circle. I can easily understand that people could exhaust you.

the conflict might be that you feel a need to get affirmation and recognition from others - to know yourself - while at the same time, your sensitivity truly exhausts you. Saturn in 12th, even if in Virgo - would indicate to me that you would need a lot of alone time. So, it may be that you truly need to balance your social life with alone time better. It´s pretty hard to not be exhausted if you are being very social with all that raw sensitivity. Yeah - I think you should listen to yourself - you need a quiet solitude on a regular basis.

August 12th 1979, life path 1.
8+12+2021= 2041, (2+0+4+1=7)

You’re in-between the completion of a personal year 6 and soon will start 7 personal cycle 2021~2022.

The 6 represents your responsibilities and being of service to others. If things go well during a 6 cycle, the Venus qualities come out, representing love, partnerships, energy is harmonious. If things go south, you feel like you’re at “sixes and sevens” with all your responsibilities. Things just get heavy. . .

The 7 brings introspections, reflecting on what have you started in the last 7 years and where do you go from there on. Its usually a year where you re-evaluate your position, could be work, partnerships, living situations etc. Its a year to be selfish and focus on well-thought plans for your future. You might feel at crisis with decisions and feel like doors are closing down on you but they are not because the full cycle last an other 2~3 years. 7 is not for new beginnings, however you’ll be winding things down/ its really important to take time to reflect, go inwards, re-evaluate to make the best decisions, specially for the next coming years. . . also a year of rest. between fall of 2021 to late 2022, if you overwork yourself and don’t slow things down, something might happen that forces you to do so.

This is very general because I dont know the rest of your numbers. . .

Not sure if that last sentence was sarcastic or not. I dont feel like im coming off as happy. Pretty burnt out really, but vaguely optimistic.

I dont think i sound happy. Im always complaining about work. Well, maybe not always. But occasionally let off some steam. I didnt expect this thread to get more than a handful of replies really.

Been looking at condo rentals on the beach has been cheering me up a little. And being a total log on the recliner today under the AC. Thanking God i have this day of rest

What are your thoughts about a Saturn 12th house person dealing with lots of people? Is that weird?

"... most people prefer working from home but this situation gave serious repercussions. I think in every department there was at least one sick leave, most of them for burnouts."

"Working from home, I was doing in average 60 hours a week. I’ve decided to return at the office full time and now banking about 40 to 42 hours."

That is what it is all about. But I am not against home-office after all. I just think that this kind of work requires a mature approach and the ability to set boundaries between work and private life.

In my country, employees are also returning to their offices, but more and more often you can hear that some companies have not renewed their leases and are planning to reduce office space.

It turned out that business didn´t collapse just because an employee stayed at home. Companies are coming to the conclusion that offices can be smaller, cheaper and the employee can work remotely at least some of the time. Before covid, nobody would have thought of looking for savings in the budget in this way, now it is one of the options.

Define "normal".

People are exceedingly different in their need for social interaction. Some need more. Some need less. Some like a rowdy party and others prefer a quiet dinner party. Etc. But, it is the rare person who does not need some positive social interaction . . . in some form.

You sound so happy Sunnyshadow - reading your posts always feels uplifting.

Hmmm...probably something to keep in mind as I´m about to start working from home in about 10 days...

With the stats from the company I work for, we’re spread nation wide, it’s about 60/40. We have HR teams that did the polls, most people prefer working from home but this situation gave serious repercussions. I think in every department there was at least one sick leave, most of them for burnouts. They are planning full time returns by September with one month notice. Im wondering how this will go, specially for those preferring to work from home, currently only 20% of employees are in the offices.

Realestate investors owning those buildings are pushing business (government) for workers to return full time. Small businesses might leave the new adjustments they brought over the last 12 to 18 months permanent as they save on rent, having the employees work remotely. It has pros and cons. Many companies realize how the human contacts, hall way bump-ins, walking to a persons desk for a document instead of long tedious Skype calls or email treads. and also that working from home makes you closer to loved ones, throwing a load of laundry in-between meetings etc. I am also wondering about stats, how companies are evaluating these strange times. . .

Working from home, I was doing in average 60 hours a week. I’ve decided to return at the office full time and now banking about 40 to 42 hours. And Im salary based, I didn’t get a dime for my overtime. I use to work for a British retail company, I started at 6 weeks paid vacation a year and was working 35 hours a week. Where I live you start most places at 2weeks paid, lucky if you get benefits. Most people in TO work 6 days week, sometimes 7 just to make ends meet. My rant could go on. . . There’s big inequalities geographically.

Food and service industries is what mainly runs economy in developed countries, if we don´t have people, traffic in our cities, businesses suffers and the whole chain follows (the economy). There´s always a silver lining, some have turned this around and figured clever ways to still be successful. . .

I am also very curious to see how this will all impact the work field, specially on future generations.

I think both resonate pretty equally. They both are accurate. Mars MC has me wanting to be in charge. Cancer 10th has me wanting to take care of others. It makes me feel more "at home" at work.

The total frustration comes when i get overloaded due to seasonal rush (Uranus in 2nd house is known to be seasonal income)

Then i get overwhelmed because i normally take the time to cater to each and every person that walks through the door, but im stretched so thin and running so ragged, i have to really be a different person and try to rush them to hurry up and get something and leave. I dont have time. I think they come expecting the same warm fuzzy guy I normally am, only to find a torn and tattered version who just wants to make it through the day in one piece. I carry a sense of guilt about not spending more time with each person. Or not meeting their expectations. I think cancer 10th really wants to connect with people on a deeper level. But, then, there are people literally standing in line, ready to get what they came for. All the while phone ringing also, dont answer it half the time lately. Because its rude to answer the phone with people standing in line, and the person calling is probably expecting to have a nice calm conversation with someone who has time to listen to them.

So i just dont answer half the time

Help very hard to find for me. Right now anyway.

Thats cool about the personal year 9/1, i didnt even know. Ill have to check that out.

Also was just reading about Pisces 6th house. This is really accurate also. And explains alot. Was gonna ask fish what he thought. I think he may also be pisces 6th

"I believe you are right but I wonder if there is data to back that up?"

I do not know, I was not referring to statistics. So, please do not take it as a proven fact. These are rather my observations. And since I have had to deal with very different industries, these are not just observations from one field :-)

I wrote above about the fact that home-office is in the interest of employers... Yes it is, but there are also risks involved. At the moment companies are hiring new employees who have seen their offices at most when signing a contract. Often such an employee does not feel emotionally attached to their company. Such people do not form close relationships with the team, which in the long run may result in increased turnover... and this is not good for business.

We are living in interesting times. I have been observing with great interest the direction in which organisations and employee management are evolving. By the time our kids enter the job market, it will already be a completely different reality...

Aw I just noticed you are in personal year 9 / 1 endings and beginnings!

Also in your natal, Mars Conjunct Midheaven: Very early in life, you will develop a firm determination to do everything your own way. You decide upon a course of action quite quickly, and you usually know just what you want to accomplish.

In my own logic which may be very flawed; Mars in Cancer seems also to want to care for others? So maybe you want to do everything your own way which might mean your own business but also quite literally figuring out how to do it. If you want to support others however you have to let them also be able to do it their way. But if you insist, it would sound a lot like a franchise?

Maybe you could just support those working for you and not do so much yourself. Or maybe just take care of customers and let others do the job which you supervise. Or not if you cannot handle them doing it their own way and just look at the result.

What resonates more?

I know a company that is considering introducing a 4-day working day instead of a 5-day working day. Sounds good, but of course this is only possible in certain departments. It is hard to imagine that, for example, production only works 4 days a week.

However, I do not think that this will become a general trend. On the contrary, the spread of the home-office system, which I have always been a fan of, has led to people working longer and longer hours.

Working from the office, whether you like it or not, you have to eventually shut down your computer and go home. If you work from home, you might as well not switch off the computer at all. The boundary between private and professional life is blurred, and not to your advantage.

Yeah, if you´re running your own business, you´re going to need to put in some more time...

Paying the cost to be the boss, so to speak...

That´s one of the reasons I am backing off the idea of running my own business...something I was contemplating a while back.

But if you´re just working for someone else at a run of the mill job for average pay... 6 hours a day is just right...

With weekly paychecks please...none of this bi-weekly crap...

yes, totally!
and also agree with your other comment. If you own a business, hiring/promoting the right people in the right positions is imp, management is not for everyone. . .

I admire people who start their own business. It takes a lot of guts, being able to take risks, investing their own time, energy and money to build something that came from an idea, a dream.

I know what you first meant by the hours take over the leisure time but I think in the long run, working 18hrs/day would be so unhealthy, for the entrepreneur and the business. I´d run myself into a burn out. Theoretically, if the leader feels like a "slave" everything will suffer :8:

Well, so you need skilled labour and someone to pick up the phone as has been said. Interns are cheap. You have to think this way: it´s my business, if I do well, I can support others, so in order to do well, everybody has to do their share. No excuses. If you can´t get along or do the job, pick something else. If you were a doctor it would be different with Cancer in the 10th... I guess. But yeah, Cancer is service oriented.

If you have too much work there ought to be competition, if you have too much work, raise prices. If people want priority, sell them a service contract. This should be like a subscription service, should give you some money predictably.

Absolutely, I agree with you. I would also add that if you have problems delegating responsibilities, it means you should think carefully about whether running your own business is for you. Or in what direction the business should develop, because you really can´t do everything by yourself in the long run. Especially if you want to grow.

But unfortunately sometimes the reality is different. People open companies in order to be independent and have more time, and then paradoxically it turns out that from one "slavery" they fell into another. And this is the saddest thing.

It is not so bad if the company is profitable, but sometimes profit comes at a huge cost to private life.

"People take grass mowing really seriously it turns out :61:"

When I lived in the south, the old men would live on their riding mowers. If it rained for one day straight, or stopped in the midst of a rainstorm, I´d immediately hear the mower start cranking the second the rain ceased.

Think they just drink beer and eat cheetos while going over the exact same spot that was pristine the day before

Ok, what you describe looks like extremely toxic workplaces. But a fish goes bad from the head. This kind of thing happens in organisations with poor people management.

I once worked in a company where the boss had Mars in close conjunction with Chiron and Saturn. This person had very serious problems with assertiveness. Things were happening in front of her that could be considered bullying. There was no reaction from her side, she was more paralysed by fear than the team. The whole situation ended when people started to leave.

I believe that there is nothing worse than the wrong person in the wrong job. It is not so bad if the position is an independent one, but when responsibility for people comes into play, the consequences can be serious, not only for the business itself.

One of the basic mistakes that are made in organisations is to promote people mostly only as a reward for good performance. In reality, managing people requires, above all, a range of soft skills.

Many times I have seen with my own eyes how a promotion of an employee turned into a nightmare. Because it turned out that he/she was a great specialist, but as a manager he/she couldn´t cope.

Conversely, I´ve seen great sales executives build great, effective and motivated teams, who were good salespeople in the past, but were not at all among the best of the best.

If you´re working 18 hours daily to sustain your business on a long term basis I wouldn´t call this a successful career. maybe the first 2 years of starting it but after, this is not a life I´d want for myself as a business owner.

I mean at some point things need to be delegated, can´t control or do everything. I´m speaking from personal experience, I started a business on the side and worked in management positions for about a decade.

It used to be 100% sales, then started getting into repairs. Now its about 70% sales, 30% service. Maybe 75/25

The big problem with the business is the extreme seasonal part of it. And when the season is in, the customers are really impatient. People take grass mowing really seriously it turns out :61:

Lately people are mowing every week or more. They gotta have them mowers going. I understand their situation, but they dont seem to understand mine.

I keep reading how Saturn 12th house likes to work alone, in isolation. I think thats what id really like. Something I could just focus on and work uninterrupted

That is a far cry from my reality. Dealing with hundreds, no, thousands of people. All got their own personalities. Trying to please all of them is more than exhausting to me. I end up acting kinda crazy when it gets so busy like this.

How do you deal with so many people?NONSTOP, ALL UP IN YOUR FACE. And they need it NOW (as a added bonus, they think you actually have time for them to tell you about their life story LMAO!!!)

Theres no good answer. You just gotta be kinda a jerk (when its busy) just to survive

"I think the 8 hour workday is bullshit...6 hours is much better..."

In my humble opinion, based on experience and observation, if you have your own business, an 18-hour working day is more in line with reality than an 8-hour, not to mention 6...

But I would never sell a business that is profitable and likely to become a gold mine in the future ...
